A spit is a narrow strip of land that pushes into open water. Here, a tongue of pine forest extends into the turquoise shallows of Lago di Carezza, two footpaths branching through the trees before the land runs out.
From the air, it looks like a launchpad: a narrow point of departure between the forest and the lake.
The water surrounds it on three sides, vivid and clear, and the forest holds its ground right to the edge.
