Lago di Carezza, its name rooted in an old Ladin legend of rainbows and mountain spirits, sits at 1,520 metres in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. Fed by underground springs alone, its water is dark, transparent, and on still mornings, mirror-flat.

From the shore, the Latemar, a crown of jagged dolomite towers, reflects across the surface so precisely that the image doubles.

This is the shot that made Lago di Carezza famous. Captured before the crowds arrived, on a still morning in late summer. Some views don't need a new angle: they need patience, the right light, and the honesty to photograph what is actually there.
